The first day of summer is just under a week away. Who’s excited? I am! We’ve had a pretty decent spring so far, except for all the rain we’ve been getting in the last week. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind the rain. I actually love it! Just not every single day or preferably after a hot sunny day. It’s great for cooling things downn.
As the weather starts gettinggg warmer, I don’t like to wear a ton of makeup. I always end up sweating it all off within a few hours. Foundation melting off of your face is NOT sexy! Ok? LOL! Summer 2013 is all about the fresh, faced, nude makeup trend. When trying out a new trend, I am very wise about what I am spending and like to get the most bang for my buck, so while shopping at Walmart I decided to check out the cosmetic aisles.
I wanted to be able to create a nude summer look look on a budget and with Rimmel London Canada makeup being very affordable, I was able to pick-up an entire new Summer look for just a little over $40!
Creating the nude summer trend look I wanted to keep things simple:
- Rimmel The Max Volume Flash Mascara in Extreme Black
- Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation in True Ivory
- Rimmel Match Perfection 2 in 1 Concealer and Highlighter in Soft Beige
- Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Nude
- Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in My Eternity
- Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent
- Rimmel Glam’Eyes Quad Eye Shadow in Romantic Cool
I have a fair amount of sun damage on my face, uneven skin tone and dark under eye circles. To prevent further damage, before I apply foundation to my face, I always start with a moisturizer that has SPF.
After waiting about 5 minutes for my moisturizer to soak in, I then apply foundation to my entire face and a few dots of concealer under my eyes and blend, blend, blend.
I tried out the transparent pressed powder because I’ve never used a transparent powder before. I loved how light this powder was. It blended out well and made my skin look completely flawless.
I chose the Romantic Cool quad combo because it had neutral colours and it was the closest to nude I could find in the aisle. I used the two lightest shades in the quad (swatches on the right in the photo below) it gave the perfect shimmer. I was going for a day look, so I only used the highlighting shade (top-photo above) shade on the right.
Next, I applied a nude eyeliner on my lower waterline. I have never used a nude eyeliner before; I usually use black or brown. I love how it made my eyes pop.
I then applied two coats of mascara.
Lastly, I applied a lip gloss. I chose a light shimmery lip gloss with just a hint of colour to compliment my look. I do apologize; the lighting wasn’t in my favour when taking the photo below. My lips are naturally very pink, the Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in the shade My Eternity looks a lot pinker on my lips then it is. It has more of a light purple shimmer.
I really like this lip gloss, it goes on light, which is perfect for the warm ssummer days.
Thanks to Rimmel London for helping me create the perfect nude look for Summer. Isn’t it pretty? 🙂
I had fun taking part in my first challenge from Social Fabric! Considering the limited nude makeup options I was given at my store, I think I did a pretty darn good job.
