Butterflies are truly beautiful creatures, but have you ever seen a Glasswinged Butterfly (Greta oto)? Hard to believe with the sheer perfection, that they actually exist. But they do!
The Glasswinged Butterfly is a brush-footed (four-footed) butterfly whose wings appear to be made of glass, but they aren’t.
The tissue within their wings lack the usually colorful scales found in other butterflies, giving them a glassy, transparent appearance.
Found primarily in Central America (Mexico through Panama), the glasswinged butterfly name in Spanish is Espejitos which translates as little mirrors.
