People concentrate so much on feeling like others love them, that they forget the one person who really matters. Themselves. How can we expect other people to love us the way we feel we deserve, if we don’t already love ourselves? Love is something we give, and something we feel.
Stop thinking about love as something you should receive from others. Once you choose to give love and feel love in whatever you do, you’ll feel so much better about yourself and your life! Here are 6 self improvement tips to help you reach your goals.
Writing is a good way to let your creative juices flow and get some of your innermost thoughts and feelings down on paper. If I’m ever feeling stressed or busy, I’ll simply write a list of things that I need to worry about. The list makes them seem much more manageable and stops them from spinning around my head. Sometimes I write a diary entry depending on what’s going on in my life. It helps me go about my day with a clear mind.
Reading is like medication for the soul. It doesn’t matter what you read; so long as you enjoy it. I like to read a mixture of self help books and fiction books. I love the escape that storybooks have to offer, but I also love how much we can learn from reading self improvement books.
Meditation might seem like you’re not doing much at all, when in fact, it’s so good for us. It’s been proven to have many benefits. People who meditate are usually fitter, smarter, and more relaxed than those who don’t. They usually have more money too! There are apps that can help us meditate these days, so you really have no excuse for not doing it.
Exercise and Eat Right
You can’t not love yourself if you’re taking care of your body like this. Exercise is good for the body and soul. You’ll love the way endorphins make you feel after a tough workout! Eating right will keep you healthy and more alert throughout the day.
Learning helps us to develop new skills and allows us to grow as people. There’s no reason to ever stop learning; we’re never too old to learn something new! You could learn how to knit, or even learn the Language of Desire. Always strive to learn and improve to become a better version of yourself!
Stop Negative Thoughts
We often let negative thoughts creep in without realizing it. Ask yourself, would you speak to a friend this way? If not, stop. Treat yourself like your oldest, dearest friend. After all, you’re the only one who has to live with you forever, so make it pleasant!
Make it your mission to love yourself. Once you love and accept yourself, you’ll feel more inclined to improve and develop as a person. Loving yourself is the only way you can expect others to love you too. Love isn’t always something we receive from others, but something we give. Give it to yourself.
