Last Saturday evening after grabbing a bite to eat. I and my boyfriend came home and went about our evening. Spending a couple of hours on the interweb. A few minutes after he turned on his computer, “WOW” in a shocked voice is all I heard… Paul Walker is dead.
Me: “What? You’re kidding right”?
The news had just broke.
Paul Walker and a close friend and business partner Roger Rodas, also a professional race car driver were in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. Paul was the passenger. They both lost their lives.
At first, I was unsure of whether to believe it or not and immediately thought “hoax”. Sadly that wasn’t the case after checking Paul’s Official Facebook page. His reps had just posted and confirmed the news to be true. My heart was instantly filled will sadness and so many questions regarding what exactly had happened?
As a huge fan, I’ve been following the tragic news. Like always, there is so much speculation going on in the media, that I prefer to wait until police have finished their investigation and release that information to the public. It is said that the autopsy results were completed earlier today and should be released shortly.
Paul Walker has been one of my favourite actors for the last 14 years. Best known for his role as Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious movies as well as other big blockbusters. Including Varsity Blues, She’s All That, The Skulls, Walt Disney’s Eight Below and Joyride, just to name a few.
Just 24 hours prior to his death, someone had started a sick rumour which quickly spread online saying that he was dead. But reps had confirmed those reports to be a hoax. Who knew that less than 24 hours later. Those same reports would turn out to be very real.
Paul at the young age of 40, touched so many lives through his charity works and talents throughout the years. He was more than just your average Hollywood actor. There were many sides to Paul Walker, that you might not have known. He was truly one of a kind.
In humanitarian efforts, Paul Walker donated over $2.5 million dollars to help those in need. He also founded the nonprofit Reach Out Worldwide in 2010 which had raised about “$1 million worth of toys and games” for the victims of the Chile earthquake, Haiti’s earthquake, the typhoon in the Philippines and the recent tornadoes in Indiana.
To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die.” – Thomas Campbell. Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now… and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us… on me… I will always love you Brian, as the brother you were… on and off screen.”
This man had an amazingly huge heart. He was a truly genuine person. I really felt that. Even though I never knew him personally, I believe that is what made me fall in love with him from the start, the overall person he was. And who could forget those stunning blue eyes and that undeniably gorgeous smile that also made you smile. A beautiful man, inside and out. A blue-eyed angel taken way too soon.
Fast and Furious will not be the same without you, Paul! My thoughts are with his family, his 15-year-old daughter, his friends and the rest of his beloved fans during this difficult time.
RIP Paul Walker
